Introduction

The purpose of this blog is to investigate the ways in which films have been remade and the changes that occur in these remakes due to cultural context. The aspects we are analysing are representations of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and class in accordance to the historical context of when the films were made. Kate Maxey is analysing the various remakes of Snow White. Zara Sheikh, The Great Gatsby. Emily Lawson, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Tamsin Scott, Batman, and Jade Verbick, Pride and Prejudice. All these films have originated from books or comics and we are keeping this in mind while doing our analyses.
